Some of my favorite parts of my job are to communicate why science is important and work with newer generations of students and scientists through 1) outreach, 2) communication and 3) mentoring. As a first-generation graduate, I know firsthand how tough it can be to navigate higher education, and as a person with privilege in society, I aim to make education and research as accessible and inclusive as possible.
Community Outreach
1) We are innately curious, and I love to tap into that aspect of our nature, which I get to do through outreach events!
Science Communication
2) I am passionate about communicating science to those who fund and are impacted by it. Unraveling fundamental unknowns is exciting, but so is sharing science with the public and policymakers!
Mentoring
3) I've been really fortunate to have great scientific mentors, and although I have big shoes to fill, I enjoy getting to step into those roles as a mentor for undergraduate and graduate students.
